HATERS ‘N BAITERS: THE CULTURE COLLISION

2010 / DANCE VIDEO / 5:42 MINUTES

“My parents are Indian and Armenian, I was born in England and I grew up in Saskatchewan. I always felt unique but paradoxically, I knew very little about my roots.”

Roger was eight years old when his family moved to Saskatchewan, Canada. It was quite a culture shock. In London, he had many friends from various backgrounds but in Saskatoon, young Roger was the only minority child in his class. He was abruptly introduced to bullying and racism. Through rap, music and dance, Roger’s film won the Prix du Public at the Racines of Radio-Canada International‘s contest in April 2010.
