ZEROS & ONES
Zeros & Ones is a group creation for seven dancers examining how digital technologies and global networks shape bodies, identities, and relationships in today’s hyper-connected world. The title evokes the binary logic of the digital age: a world where some become the “ones,” benefiting from technological power, while others remain the “zeros,” pushed to the margins of an increasingly unequal system. Expanding on a solo originally created by Roger Sinha in India in 2008, the work transforms an intimate reflection into a collective exploration of our contemporary condition.
Blending movement, spoken word, and a dialogue between contemporary and Indian dance forms, Zeros & Ones examines how digital systems permeate everyday life and reinforce new forms of inequality and exclusion. Through moments of irony and critical humour, the piece creates a conversation between past and present, individuality and collective, revealing how digital systems fragment and reshape the lived experience — both individual and collective.

NADIA CHANEY
AUTHOR
For me, art is a way to coax unlikeliness into novelty. Whether it’s painting, poetry, or facilitating transformative group experiences, I’m always asking some form of this question: Can I survive the terrifying beauty of who I really am? Can we survive the terrifying beauty of who we really are? My arts practice is always evolving. For example, in 2025 I painted 143 images of the Hindu deity Kali. nadiachaney.com
